- always one of our biggest parties of the year

Sunday the 14th - Walk 4 Rescue 2012

 

- this is the big one: our largest and most important event of the year
- this is a special walk, dedicated to Josie, one of the Working Dog team and a puppy mill survivor, who passed in 2012
- this is our 4th annual Walk, and each year has been bigger than the last
- great prizes for fun contests and donations, including an iPhone

- the animals need your support more than ever, and this is always a great time among a friendly, like-minded community, with great food and music - it's the "must-attend" event of the year!

Saturday the 29th - Country Western Night!

 
- dust off your boots and grab your hat pardner, you are in for a hollerin', foot-stompin' good time!
- DJ and dancing - show off your mad line-dancing skillz
- whiskey specials
- party starts at 9:00, but come in early and join us for dinner
- this is going to be the start of something big, so come on down so you can sit on your porch and tell your grandkids you were there when it all started

Saturday the 17th - St. Patrick's Day 2012

 

- it's not every year that St. Patty's falls on a Saturday, this one is going to be a blast
- the Working Dog will be running great drink specials all day, along with some Irish favorites on the menu
- Burpee Foster will perform again in the evening, which has been a huge hit now for three years running
- it's the best party on the East Side, don't miss it!



Saturday the 10th - the Working Dog turns 3!


 
- otherwise known as our Customer Appreciation Day, this legendary celebration is like no other
- food sampling all day, prizes and give-aways, and a live band and dancing in the evening
- $5 pints and $5 glasses of wine all day
- everyone gets a $10 coupon for your next visit (if you come with a friend the next time you drop in, $30 minimum purchase)
- this year is special, we will be launching a new version of our own house red and white wine: White Dog House, and Red Dog House. Makes for a great gift, and proceeds go to a important cause.
- in addition to the wines, we will be launching a new desert this evening: Yellow Snow - a delicious locally made frozen treat.
- no cover charge and other food and drink specials will be running all day. Its our way of saying thanks for three great years!

Sunday the 5th - Super Bowl Sunday


 
- $5 gets you your choice of: a bowl of chili, a chili dog, 2 pulled pork sliders, or a pint of domestic beer
- $15 gets you a Super Bowl platter: 6 of our famous wings, 4 home made chicken strips, yukon fries, and onion rings... plus, if you order a platter, $15 gets you a pitcher of Canadian or Coors, $14 gets you 4 tall boys, or $13 gets you a pitcher of Dogger Lager!

- kick-off is at 6:30 EST, so come in early to make sure you get your favorite spot

Saturday the 31st - The Working Dog New Year's Eve Bash

 

- you work so hard all year round! Come down to the Dog to relax and enjoy some delicious food and great times with friends.
- $4 drink specials and our outstanding regular menu will be running from 2:00 - 7:00
- your New Years Eve experience starts at 7:45 with appetizers and a glass of our Doghouse Red or White or a pint of Dogger Lager, with dinner served at 8:15
- your ticket includes a fine 3 course meal with your choice of soup or salad, a main course of AAA tenderloin, stuffed chicken breast, fresh Atlantic salmon, or stuffed canneloni, a speciality coffee or liqueur afterward, and a choice of beautiful deserts.

Saturday the 3rd - Picture your Pet with Santa

 

- so much fun: bring your best friend down to the Dog and for $10 have his or her picture taken with Santa! Photos will be taken between 12:00 and 4:00 and all proceeds go directly to charity.
- $5 pints of our fine Dogger Lager, $5 rum with complimentary egg nog or cider
- $5 appetizer specials all day

Sunday the 2nd - our 3rd annual Walk 4 Rescue, our marquee event of the year

 
> update: terrible weather could not dampen the spirits of the Working Dog faithful! We raised over $11,000 for charities this year, a new record, and even found a home for a rescue on-site - a first for our Walk 4 Rescue. An event recap and thank-you can be found here.

Tuesday the 16th: First Annual Working Dog Mixed Classic Golf Tournament

 
- tee off is at 12:00 noon at the Tam O'Shanter Golf Course (2481 Birchmount Road).
- $80 includes your round of golf, along with a savoury steak dinner and pint of our Dogger Lager back at the Dog afterward.
- prizes for closest to the hole, best drive, and best team.

Saturday the 12th: The Working Dog turns two!

 
> update: what a party! There was a great positive vibe and the dancing went on all night long. Vanessa and Chris served up great drinks and food, and our new VIP rewards club and donation program (details just below) were launched with a great deal of enthusiasm. And after all that, we raised another $850 for animal rescue too! Thanks to everyone involved, and especially you, our loyal customers.

- One of our biggest events of the year, and always a blast.
- official launch of a new program for the Dog: starting tonight $0.25 from each pint of our own Dogger Lager, or from each glass of our brand new Doghouse red or white wine (our new private label, and a perfect dog-lovers gift!), will go directly to animal rescue or humane education (or $1.00 from each bottle or pitcher).
- also launching the Working Dog Kennel Club, a points card that rewards VIPs for each visit to the Dog.
- live music and dancing with Route 66
- a boatload of prizes: spin the wheel for a toonie and win great prize packs (all proceeds to charity)
- a grand celebration with friends - great food and drinks all day!

Thursday the 17th: St. Paddy's Day

 
> update: Burpee Foster was fantastic, and we added in some Irish dancers to boot. Much Guinness was consumed and exchanged for an equal amount of good cheer. What can we say, the Dog knows how to throw a party!

- fresh Irish fare served all day long.
- Burpee Foster performs in the evening.
- plenty of cold Guinness along with plenty of Working Dog cheer!


February

Saturday the 19th: 6th Annual Soup'er Saturday

 
- Soup'er Saturday will never be the same! For the first time the Working Dog will be competing in this popular annual Toronto soup competition.
- $2 to get in, 1:00 to 3:00, 148 Markham Road, all proceeds benefit the Heart and Stroke Foundation
- your entry fee gets you a ballot to vote on your favourite soup, and there are prizes for 1st, 2nd, and 3rd place. Wonder who is going to take 2nd and 3rd...

Monday the 14th: Valentine's Day
 

- start your night off with winter squash, maple syrup, and sour cream soup, or beet, watercress, and arugula salad with goat cheese, mandarin oranges, toasted walnuts, and a balsamic reduction dressing.
- dine on your choice of angel hair pasta in a white wine garlic cream sauce, with grilled chicken and lemon zest roasted peppers, with mini-cakes with berries and Baileys cream for dessert: $29.99 per couple (that's right, that's $30 for both of you!)
- steak duo of AAA striploin and top sirloin with wild mushrooms, glazed pearl onions, truffle oil, new potatoes and seasonal vegetables, with Lustful Lava cake with lemon sorbet for desert: $39.99 per couple
- maybe a little of each? One pasta main along with one steak dinner for $34.99 per couple

- the Dog will be making an appearance at the 2011 Winterfestival with dogsledding demonstrations and our homemade soup!

Tuesday the 25th: Robbie Burns Night

 
- wear a kilt and your first drink is on the Dog!
- come and celebrate Scotland's best-loved bard with a pint, or should we suggest raising a whiskey instead?
- there will be haggis in the house.
- no advance tickets needed.

Saturday the 4th: annual customer appreciation night

- live band and dancing in the evening
- Picture your Pet with Santa. Bring your dog down to the Dog between 2:00 and 5:00 and give and receive at the same time - the $10 fee goes directly to Helping Homeless Pets.
- for the launch of our spanking new menu (great new items have been added, but don't worry, all of your Working Dog favourites are still there), free samples of menu and catering dishes will be circulating between 4:00 and 6:00 and again between 8:00 and 10:00. Mmmmmmm....

Friday the 31st: the Dog's legendary New Year Bash

 
> update: what a party! Everyone who joined us at "the Dog" to bring in 2011 had a fantastic time! Great food (thanks Chris, Tim, Joel & Derek), wonderful service (thanks Gille, Russ, Sonya & Vanessa), great music (thanks DJ Lester), and thank you friends for a great time! Discounted tickets were available to those on our mailing list - hmmm, maybe you should sign up?

- the best place to be for New Year's Eve! Tickets are $60 per person and include a spectacular three course gourmet dinner, a glass of wine or pint of Dogger Lager if you prefer, Champaign at midnight, party favours, and dancing all night with DJ Lester.
